Artist's Bio
This Ottawa, Ontario native graduated from Queen’s University at Kingston with a baccalaureate in History of Art and English then spent two years studying Interior Design at the University of Manitoba. She spent the next thirty years in Toronto building a successful career in the media department of a major international advertising agency. During these years her creative expression emerged in the form of sewing, knitting, needlework, gardening and evening art courses.
After negotiating early retirement in 1999, Patricia returned to Ottawa and has been developing her creativity through her artwork. She has explored the mediums of soft pastel, watercolour, acrylic, mixed media, collage and hand-made paper and has found each discipline to have its own rewards and challenges. She is currently incorporating her own drawings into her collages and is continuing her "Fashion Sense" series focusing on dresses constructed of nontraditional materials.
She is an active member of the local art scene, participating in the Glebe and Strathcona Art in the Park festivals, the 2007 Ottawa Fine Art Festival, "For the Love of the Farm" in 2009 and the Ottawa Art Expo in 2009 where one of her pieces was a finalist for the Trailblazer award recognizing creative innovation. As a member of the Ottawa Mixed Media Artists (OMMA) and the Nepean Fine Arts League (NFAL) she exhibits regularly at a variety of local venues and galleries throughout the year. She was juried into Art Lending of Ottawa in 2005 and regularly exhibits during each of the eight annual shows.
She was also one of the founding members of "the LOFT art studios" on Gladstone and regularly volunteers her time with various art associations and festivals.
